This month, Licenseware turns four. Four years might seem short, but in startup years, it’s a lifetime of challenges, growth, and relentless drive.
We started our journey in 2020 amid a global pandemic—one of the worst times to launch a startup. Since then, we’ve weathered the macroeconomic conditions of a global recession, stock market crashes, and geopolitical conflicts. Only 0.05% of startups get VC funding, and the “startup winter” made things worse, chilling investments, valuations, and innovation worldwide. Through it all, we stayed focused, knowing that resilience in tough times builds lasting strength.
Since our journey began, our approach has been shaped by a few key principles: lean, nimble, frugal, pragmatic, daring, and joyful. These values have guided us through every high and low, helping us navigate the startup life rollercoaster.
We’ve experienced moments of exhilarating success and, admittedly, a few close calls (war stories for another day). Up to 90% of startups fail. There were times, even for us, when we were uncertain of our trajectory. But those moments were typically followed by periods of high growth. One thing has remained constant through it all: we refuse to give up. Some studies say that first-time startup founders have a success rate of 18%, but the only way we’d stop is if we were dead or completely incapacitated.
If there’s one lesson we’ve learned, it’s this: you can have the most innovative tech in the world, but success is elusive without a community of smart, curious early adopters and passionate supporters. Our wins are your wins, and as long as you stand with us, we’ll keep pushing the industry forward.
